Great Rivers Scenic Byway Recipe Project Early this summer, the Alton CVB was approached by a gentleman by the name of David Alan Badger. David is an artist specializing in pen and ink drawings, and he also produces recipe books. Recently, he completed a "Wineries and Bed & Breakfast Recipes of Illinois" book. The book features a collection of recipes from the kitchens of Illinois wineries and bed & breakfasts, accompanied by David's pen and ink drawings.
David would like to put together a recipe book featuring the businesses (shops, restaurants, guest houses, B&Bs, wineries, etc.) and attractions along the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway. He will begin contacting businesses and collecting materials for the project in the first part of September. The book is expected to be published prior to Mother's Day in May 2008.
All businesses along the byway are invited to participate. You do not have to be a restaurant, winery or B&B participate. All businesses are welcome and encouraged to consider being a part of this unique project showcasing our region.
Your participation in the project will include:
Businesses will also receive: The original pen & ink drawing.
The total cost to the business is $259.20, which is basically the wholesale cost of the two dozen recipe books (wholesale cost of $10.80 per book or 60% of the retail price). The business can then resell the book to recover the investment with a profit when all of the books are sold. Books may be reordered with a minimum quantity of six books required. For businesses wishing to participate, a deposit of $100 is taken at the time of the commitment. A second billing is due when the proof is sent. David Alan Badger is responsible to all business transactions, artwork, billing, proofs, layout of the book, publishing of the book and distribution. You may be hearing from David in the coming weeks. We hope that you will consider participating in this project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brett at the Alton CVB, 618-465-6676. You may also contact David directly at david@davidalanbadger.com.
