The Dillon Home Museum

 Built in 1858, the home is of the Italian Renaissance period and is constructed of brick on a 5.45 acre site. Purchased by the Dillon Family in 1882, it was donated to the Sterling Park District after the death of Paul Dillon in 1980. The large two-story, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has a basement and an observatory(turret). the rooms are spacious and contain many beautiful antique pieces and artifacts.

 

Other Attractions and Events of The Dillon House Museum:

-Carriage House - Home of the Sterling/Rock Falls Historical Society Museum. Built in 1858, it contains 3,000 sq.ft. of exhibit space.

-A 1929 Baldwin locomotive used at Northwestern Steel Sterling until 1980...one of the last steam engines in the world to be used in an industrial application

-Christmas Walk -held the first weekend in December, the Dillon Home is beautifully decorated to accentuate the holiday season.
